• Subiect: A Man of Iviria in Bucharest - Antim, the Metropolitan Bishop - Antim or Andrei on his baptism name –of Iviria came to Walachia invited by the cultivated ruler Constantin Brâncoveanu. He had skills in carving, painting, drawing, he was a good portraitist, calligrapher, miniature artist, but also a great orator, in Bucharest, his first target was to run the princely printing establishment. He undertook an impressing activity aiming at promoting the Romanian language during the divine service and in the versions translated of the holy writings; he was an important preacher. In 1708 he became Metropolitan Bishop. Victim of his epoch's political plotting; he was executed as a martyr of the Christian Orthodox Church. He was canonized on September 27th, 1992. He remained in the memory of the contemporaries as a true Shepherd sacrificing his life for the sake of the Truth, for God and the faithful ones.
